Who writes it
Everything published on this site is written by Berkay Kolay, Founder, Killion Labs, who also builds the simulation engine the research runs on. There is no ghostwriting and no syndicated content.
We hold no financial planning or investment credential, and we do not claim one. What we bring is the engine: the ability to run a controlled experiment across thousands of simulated market lifetimes and report what came out. Where an established researcher has already answered a question — Bengen on withdrawal rates, Guyton and Klinger on guardrails — we cite them rather than paraphrasing them as our own.
How research is produced
- Fix the question first. The hypothesis and the measure are chosen before the run, so a result cannot be selected after the fact.
- Hold everything else constant. Comparisons use identical households and identical market draws, so a difference in outcome is attributable to the variable being tested.
- Use a seeded run. Every figure we publish comes from a reproducible computation, not a one-off.
- Report the trade, not just the winner. If a policy improved the success rate by spending less, the article says what it cost.
- State the assumptions in the article. Path count, horizon, allocation and what is not modelled.
Sourcing and citation
Historical market data comes from published series, and the source is named in the article that uses it. Claims about other products are checked against that vendor's own public pricing or product pages, and every comparison page carries the date it was checked and a link to the source.
We do not cite AI-generated summaries, and we do not present a modelled result as a historical fact or a historical fact as a prediction.
Updates and corrections
Articles show both a publication date and a last-updated date, and the updated date changes only when the substance changes — not when a typo is fixed. Where a correction alters a conclusion or a number a reader may have acted on, we say what changed rather than editing silently.
Comparison pages are re-checked against vendor pricing periodically, and the verification date on the page tells you when that last happened. If a figure on this site is wrong, tell us through the contact form and we will fix it and say so.
Independence and conflicts
Killion Labs is funded by subscriptions. We take no commissions, kickbacks or placement fees from funds, brokers or advisers, and no third party pays to appear — or to be described a particular way — in anything we publish.
We do run a partner programme that pays creators a share of revenue from referrals they send. That is disclosed on the partners page, it applies to outside creators rather than to our own content, and it does not affect what we write about competitors. Comparison pages name products that are better than Killion at specific jobs, and recommend them, because a comparison page that never does is not information.
What this is not
Nothing published here is financial, investment, legal or tax advice. Killion Labs is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, financial planner or tax professional. We publish research about how plans behave under simulated and historical conditions; deciding what to do with your own money is your call, and for a decision of consequence it is worth involving a qualified professional.
Simulated results are hypothetical, do not reflect actual investment outcomes, and are not a guarantee of anything.
